ADDITIONAL INFO

Heat Treatment
Heat treatment instructions and recommendations for 8620 are provided by one of our mills, Ovako. Please contact Sullivan Steel for additional guidance or information.
Machinability
Sullivan Steel typically stocks 8620 in the mill-annealed condition, optimal for machinability and heat treatment uniformity. Exceptions may apply. In most cases, machining should be completed at the closest possible tolerance prior to carburizing. It is generally ideal to minimize finish machining or grinding after heat treatment to avoid jeopardizing the hardened case of the part.
Common Applications
Engines and other automotive components, camshafts, crankshafts, fasteners, gears, gear rings, kingpins, piston pins.
